Black Women and Medical Professionals

By Allison L. Williams Hill

“Do All Things In-Vesica.”

The Youtube channel is called Cindys Villa. On May 26th, she uploaded a TikTok video of a white labor and delivery nurse discussing health pregnancy care for Black women. It was viewed almost forty thousand times and had over one thousand comments. The nurse mentioned needs that were not being met. “I’m colorblind. I don’t treat my patients any differently,” said other nurses to her. This nurse’s point is that they cannot be colorblind. Other comments from the nurse:

“Black women are more likely than any other race to be harmed in pregnancy childbirth and beyond.

“Black women are not believed about pain, symptoms…

“They delay seeking medical care because they don’t trust health care providers…

“Pre-eclampsia is the one of the leading causes of maternal mortality in the United States.”

This nurse cited James Marion Syms and so did I in the letter about my mother’s experience.

The comments on this page were frustrating.  I felt anger that women suffered because of what they looked like.  But it’s always been like this.

I am Black. My mother was Black. I witnessed an incident at Nassau University Medical Center, Nassau, New York. I wrote a letter to Ms. Laura Salenimo, Patient Care Representative expressing my displeasure. My mother was in her eighties.  Below is an edited version of the letter.

My mother came to NUMC’s Emergency on December 13, 2018. She was in Treatment Room No. 26. Several nice people saw to her care. Not all of them were decent, however. An Asian woman, thin, who I saw use a station at the Nurse’s Station directly outside of the treatment room was called [removed] by another worker after the incident.  She was in the room with, I think, a student nurse with a Middle Eastern name. She did not introduce herself as others did. She ignored my mother’s question.  She had a device in her hands, picture included.  She dropped it on my mother’s legs. My mother screamed. This employee said nothing. She did not acknowledge that it happened. She kept going as if no sound was made.

A photo of the actual equipment that the hospital worker allowed to fall on my mother’s legs.

I do not know if it was true, if it was used to support your employee’s lack of compassion for something she absolutely caused: some people think that African-Americans, due to the melanin, can endure high levels of pain. Doctors like Sims operated on African women without the benefit of anesthesia because our race made us durable – NOT!! People have internalized the nonsense from Carl Von Linneaus racial classifications that supposedly saved anthropologists time and energy.

Statue of James Marion Sims, the pig in Central Park who performed gynecological examinations on Black women without anesthesia.

I wonder if Asians think like that. Moreover, I wonder if they are even aware that they do. On the other hand, I don’t care if they do or she does. Hi Chen made a gross mistake dropping a device on my mother.  While my mother in the room on the eleventh floor, I checked her legs for bruises and thereafter after she was discharged.

“Researchers from the University of Virginia discovered this when they queried a group of 222 white medical students and residents and found that half believed in phony biological differences between black and white people, including “that blacks age more slowly than whites; their nerve endings are less sensitive than whites’; their blood coagulates more quickly than whites’; [and] their skin is thicker than whites.” Source: “Medical Racism and the Ignoring of Black Pain” written by Kali Holloway / AlterNet April 23, 2016

My mother‘s experience was so memorable that she spoke about it many times after discharge. An assistant nurse or whatever staff was cleaning her. This woman left my mother damp and exposed with the room door open.  My mother complained that she felt exposed and asked that the staff close the door. The response from the staff was, “No one can see you.” I will let that sink in for a moment.  The door was never closed.  My mother felt extremely uncomfortable, to say the least.

The images were in the body of the letter.

I commented on the page encouraging women to document their experiences and submit them to the hospital,  professional boards, and all other places where the case should be read.

A couple of women wrote that they were sewn up and felt the pain from the stitching. I should think that sewing up a woman after giving birth without anesthesia and she complaining about feeling the pain constitutes medical malpractice.

I added several comments on this page. To read the experiences, of people cut open without anesthesia, was devastating. We all must be aware of the medical profession’s practices and plan accordingly.

After reading more comments I asked Spirit if there was anything that could be done. I asked, Spirit, please help the writers of these experiences and those who had experiences and did not write. I asked God, by Grace, to please imprint the Original Blueprint on each of them.

I am glad that women are writing about this. Previously, this subject would have remained unspoken.

I included this video today because I wrote about y mother. She was on my mind a lot for the past three weeks. I get the feeling to call her on the phone and then I hear her in my heart. We both smile.

More Evidence That Vitamin D Protects Against Severe COVID-19 Disease and Death

Vitamin D Supplement Sunshine

People get vitamin D from sun exposure, foods (such as fatty fish), and supplements.

New research from Trinity College Dublin and University of Edinburgh has examined the association between vitamin D and COVID-19, and found that ambient ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation (which is key for vitamin D production in the skin) at an individual’s place of residence in the weeks before COVID-19 infection, was strongly protective against severe disease and death. The paper was published in the journal Scientific Reports September 14, 2021.

Previous studies have linked vitamin D deficiency with an increased susceptibility to viral and bacterial respiratory infections. Similarly, several observational studies found a strong correlation between vitamin D deficiency and COVID-19, but it could be that these effects are confounded and in fact a result of other factors, such as obesity, older age, or chronic illness which are also linked with low vitamin D.

To overcome this, researchers were able to calculate “genetically-predicted” vitamin D level, that is not confounded by other demographic, health, and lifestyle factors, by using the information from over one hundred genes that determine vitamin D status.

The Mendelian Randomisation is a particular analytical approach that enabled researchers to investigate whether vitamin D and COVID-19 might be causally linked using genetic data. Few earlier studies attempted this but failed to show a causal link. This could be because UVB radiation sunshine which is the most important source of vitamin D for majority of people was ignored.

Researchers, for the first time, looked jointly at genetically-predicted and UVB-predicted vitamin D level. Almost half a million individuals in the UK took part in the study, and ambient UVB radiation before COVID-19 infection was individually assessed for each participant. When comparing the two variables, researchers found that correlation with measured vitamin D concentration in the circulation was three-fold stronger for UVB-predicted vitamin D level, compared to genetically-predicted.

Researchers found that ambient UVB radiation at an individual’s place of residence preceding COVID-19 infection was strongly and inversely associated with hospitalization and death. This suggests that vitamin D may protect against severe COVID-19 disease and death. Additionally, while the results from the Mendelian Randomisation analysis weren’t conclusive, some indication of a potential causal effect was noted. Because of the relatively weak link between genetically-predicted vitamin D level that is used for Mendelian Randomisation analysis, it is possible that the number of cases in the current study was too small to convincingly determine causal effect, but future larger studies might provide the answer.

Professor Lina Zgaga, Associate Professor in Epidemiology, School of Medicine, Trinity College and senior researcher on the study said:

“Our study adds further evidence that vitamin D might protect against severe COVID-19 infection. Conducting a properly designed COVID-19 randomized controlled trial of vitamin D supplementation is critical. Until then, given that vitamin D supplements are safe and cheap, it is definitely advisable to take supplements and protect against vitamin D deficiency, particularly with winter on the horizon.”

Professor Evropi Theodoratou, Professor of Cancer Epidemiology and Global Health, University of Edinburgh and senior researcher on the study said:

“Given the lack of highly effective therapies against COVID-19, we think it is important to remain open-minded to emerging results from rigorously conducted studies of vitamin D.”

Dr. Xue Li, a researcher on the study from Zhejiang University said:

“Our study supports the recommendation of vitamin D supplementation for not only the maintenance of bone and muscle health during the lock down, but also the potential benefits in relation to protection from COVID-19.”

A new series of studies on the effects of prolonged sitting showed the average adult used 90% plus of their time sitting. Greater than half of one’s daily involved sitting doing activities like watching television and driving to work and other places. Prolonged sitting was associated with a positive death risk and it also increased the risk of osteoporosis. Activity up to 7 hours/wk is insufficient to mitigate the effects.

Take a look at Movement-Belly Dancing.

Positive moves include:

  •  taking breaks and walking around or walking a flight of stairs up then down;
  • creating a stand-up desk so you will not be sitting while your work;
  • drinking more water to encourage walking to a restroom for elimination;
  • setting a timer to remind you to take a break, or
  •  increasing the distances between office equipment.

In my design work, I used the kitchen design rule that established the triangle setup distances between the refrigerator, the stove and the sink should add up to no more than twenty-one feet.    Larger, more open kitchens have greater distances between these appliances and no one has complained about it.  Kitchens include more appliances like microwaves and may have an island containing smaller appliances usually organized along the perimeter.

To reduce weight:

– If you need to sit, remain upright.  By all means, do not lie down.  The digestive process slows down when the body is horizontal.

-Reduce sitting immediately after eating.  Take a walk around the block.

-Combine tasks by taking a walk around the house and doing light chores.

-Don’t underestimate the power of gravity.  It helps move matter through your digestive tract. Movement may help form the shape of the accumulated feces in the lower part of the colon aiding elimination.  Large masses can rip the rectum causing bleeding and pain.

Health Focus:

Recently, it was estimated that Americans ate over a million chickens per hour.

I became a vegetarian 25 years ago.  If I am not eating any bird, who is eating my share?

Aging Hormone Production Question

Spirit of the Island 2 by Allison L. Williams Hill

From Thiery Hertoghe, MD’s book The Hormone Solution: Stay Younger Longer:

“But the major cause of low hormone production with age is the inevitable aging of the glands themselves.  They simply get used up and worn out. They can no longer replace their own dead cells and waste products build up and get concentrated in the remaining cells, which, slows down their activity and reduces their effectiveness.”1

I read this after my husband and I underwent extensive blood tests.  We both have lowered hormone levels and felt the corresponding changes.

Andropause and menopause are significant  life changes that, unfortunately, unless we remember a previous life where we lived long enough to experience this new change, this different way of life, is a ringer.

My experience could be summed up comically by walking at my usual fast clip pace, thennnn eyeeee sloooooow dooownnnn.  Actually my body does and I am puzzled because I have absolutely no idea why.

Dr. Hertoghe’s idea to get a hormone profile of every person is a good one. As they age, a physician can easily track the differences and assist in returning the person to optimum health.

If low hormone production is due to gland aging and the result of that is the inability to replace accumulating dead cells, then why can’t we clean the organ to support the gland’s ability to produce at any age?

If the organ is allowed to rejuvenate, it should be able to build and eliminate.  The gland will hopefully resume its function because its efficiency has increased.

Live Food to Provide Nutrients for Gland Rejuvenation

I first heard about Ann Wigmore, D.D.N.D., and living foods from Dr. Gary Null.

Ann Wigmore believed that allergies can lead to diseases like ulcers, lupus, obesity, colitus, etc.

Animal protein contains nucleoprotein that breaks down into uric acid, a waste, that excessive amounts causes gout and other debilitating conditions. Plant protein is more easily digested than nucleo protein and does not cause debilIitating conditions.

Sprouted seeds contain higher amounts of Vitamin C, Niacin, and Riboflavin.

Lentil beans, radish, wheat, and mung beans can be sprouted and eaten raw to facilitate the highest and easiest way to help a body heal itself.  Many tests have shown that live food such as sprouts do help reverse dis-ease and helps a body reverse the ravages of aging.

Another Live Food: Wheatgrass

Ann Wigmore used wheatgrass juice, a substance that has the exact molecular configuration as blood except, instead of iron in the center atom of a hemin blood molecule, chlorophyll has magnesium.

Wheatgrass doesn’t permit any bacterial growth.  It contains “…over 100 elements including all minerals.” Some are:

        •     Calcium
        •     Iron
        •     Phosphorus
        •     Potassium
        •     Sodium
        •     Sulfur
        •     Cobalt
        •     Zinc

Wheatgrass juice contains vitamins A, B, C, E, and K.  Wheatgrass juice is used in combination with fresh, organic produce to cure people of cancers who were diagnosed as terminal by allopathically trained physicians.  We thrive on enzymes and minerals.  Wheatgrass juice appears to have it all.

The Roam by Allison L. Williams Hill

Every diet ever written has someone’s name on it or culture or condition, or religion associated with it.

That does not mean it will work for you.  Each of us is uniquely individual.  Small tweaks here and there separate us to the extent that food and lifestyle plans are specific to environmental and physical conditions.

What the Institute for Integrative Nutrition gave due attention to is a concept called Primary Food. Joshua Rosenthal, the founder, noticed that no matter how pristine one’s diet or food plan is, if it is not coupled with the right thinking and feeling, its effect is rendered almost useless.  Mind and heart must be in harmony in order to use the nutrition one consumes.

My work looks at energy center integration and the fulfillment of four areas of your life all of which need to be attended to. A simple question to ask yourself is: “Am I happy?”

Dr. Bruce Lipton, the author of “Wisdom of Your Cells”, shattered accepted dogma with new information that folds so beautifully as whipped egg whites (or egg substitute) into the batter: our thoughts directly affect our physical bodies. And Dr. Candace Pert, author of “Molecules of Emotion” proved our emotions affect our physical bodies.

What both acknowledge is that:

                       > Your body is energy influenced by energy.

                        >Thought is energy.

                        >Thought influences your body.

The subconscious holds the beliefs that the young mind selected and stored between the ages of 2 and 5.  The beliefs serve to protect when they are the correct beliefs to have.  When embedded, beliefs block that which can improve your life. They need to be reprogrammed.  Regardless of what you do to change yourself, those beliefs, if left in place, may make it difficult for you to sustain. Full Spectrum Living looks to see if any blocks exist to maximize the time and money you are investing into your new undertaking.

The best question to ask yourself is: “Am I happy?” If the answer is no, then ask “Why aren’t I?”

That is why the health history interview is soooo important! Your early life, your life with your family, the life you have created, and the life you are living now, if it differs, contribute to what is happening NOW.

Let’s sit and talk about your life.

GMO Products: Hey! How About Those Normal Tasting Foods That Do Incredible Things to Our Bodies?

In 2012, I’d been listening to and reading many findings about health and disease.  The Farm Bill that year did not succeed regarding GMO labeling.   But continue to alert your Congress people of your desire to have GMO products labeled.  As you know, the farm bill was modified and enough of your trusty representatives thought you did not need to know that your food was altered. GMO products, until next time, will remain anonymously stuffed among food we have consumed for decades.

On his Pacifica Radio WBAI show in 2012 around the time I originally wrote this, Dr. Gary Null read the names of people who were either consultants for or employees of Monsanto who worked for or are working for the government in high power positions.

I began reading the book Seeds of Destruction per the encouragement of a friend.  I found it online but got a copy anyway so I could mark it and include my own notes.  F. William Engdahl, the author produced a remarkable document chronicling the beginning of the path for Monsanto to become the horrific corporation it is.  I did not know that former President George Herbert Walker Bush (41) issued an Executive Order that gave Monsanto the foothold into the health of every American and subsequently the encouragement to achieve the same of every human on the planet.

What Can You Do?

Everybody should support the Farm Bill; there is still more work to do.  Congress systematically votes it down under the effective pressure of the food processing manufacturing industry.  The industry and their lobbyists are telling congressmen that Americans do not know what to think and that less information helps them make decisions easier.  Is that true for you? If it is not, support that which improves your health, not what makes money for ConAgra, Monsanto, Cargill, and the like.

Read Seeds of Destruction by F. William Engdahl.  Learn by understanding the history of the politics of resources and genetic manipulation and, in my opinion, wrongful use of executive power.  The most useful question we need to ask is: can we change this? Can an Executive Order be challenged?  Another question is: given that an Executive Order can be challenged, what would it take to successfully launch and accomplish a project such as this?

January 10, 2018

The project to remove organic foods and supplements continues. The organic produce industry is a multi-billion dollar business.  Money that the processed food industry and the pharmaceutical industry would gladly acquire.  The moves and the means may change but the ends remain the same.  Be cautious in your choice of organization.  The industries that are the biggest offenders of pollution and violate laws and regulations that exist to protect the public, create organizations that represent what people are attracted to, in name only.

Extraterrestrials cheering me on!

I always had a desire to do art.  My mother reminded me of the classes for seniors at the community center.  They painted still life using oil paints.  I looked in their faces as they concentrated.  I watched how they mixed colors and applied them to their canvases.   After a while, I’d leave and explore playing with children my age.  After a while, return to the artists.  I spent more time in that room, in the quiet, than with children my age.

I was given special permission to be in the room and, later, receive art instruction from an African American male artist.  I don’t remember his name.  He was in his 60s or 70s at the time.  He made time to critique one of my drawings.  He helped me see the colors within color, how to observe light changes, and many other things.

From nursery school all the way through to high school, art was at the fore.  I switched it up a little in college.  Too often I heard the phrase “Starving Artists Sale” to remain confident that I could make a living solely as an artist.  I liked architecture because it combined art and science and I pursued that degree thinking the combination would provide me with what I needed to do and what I wanted to do.  I almost completed the licensing process, short one section.  A life priority was more important that to this day, three years in, I have not made the time to resume from ground zero as I’ve lost all I had accomplished.

Five Members of the Ring by Allison L. Williams Hill

I thought the first thing I pursued would be the last thing I complete.  It may be.  After my Beloved crossed over, he said, through my friend who was open to receiving his communication, that I won’t need to.  Architectural knowledge, sacred geometry, and related, that were needed to serve my work were acquired.  It’s all about the art now.

Manifestation May Need Time

Visualization or manifestation may not happen in a time period one would expect. It is a talent that requires development like anything else.   Notice that many of the authors, workshop leaders, etc. rarely say how much time it would take to realize your dreams.  Everybody is different.  Every mind is different.  Some of the time required to invest in what you desire may need to be used in “removing” the negative ideas of not having – worth, responsibility, attractiveness, financial capability, etc.  These must be removed to make room for the positive.

Whatever was said by whom whether positive or negative matters only if you believe it.  You may need the support of friends, under each arm, lending strength until you can stand on your own.   They may be corporeal – an aunt, a friend, or a teacher.  They may be Spirit – an aunt, a friend, or a teacher.

If you hear or feel a negative saying in the midst of doing the work, stop and begin again.  Say the opposite of what you heard.  If you hear it again, grit your teeth.  Then begin again.  If you hear the same thing or another negative saying,   shake it out of your head.  Ask yourself: was this ever really true?  Then begin again.  Always continue.  Begin again until you reach the point where you no longer have to begin again.  You will have created a new way, a new way forward eradicating the blocks.  Our best expression of life is to create in positive, transformative ways.

Be sure to place a date on your activity.  Have it in “5 months” or “by whatever date” rather than having it on-going….into space.  Only focus on the outcome, not how it’s going to come to you.  You have friends, whether you know them, or not, who are working to help you realize what you are working towards.
